Mamunya Photo Exhibition

Market Building Mostyn St Castlemaine

Friends of the Box-Ironbark Forests is holding an exhibition of photos highlighting the remarkable beauty of our local woodlands.

Photos have been selected from the gallery of the website of the Friends of the Box-Ironbark Forests www.fobif.org.au

The title of the exhibition emphasises that apparently modest scrub can reveal wonders when you look closely.

The exhibition continues a tradition the Friends started in 1999 with their first Mamunya festival. This word comes from a Dja Dja Wurrung chant, ‘pata, mamunya, jirarunga,’ meaning, ‘wait a while, don’t touch it, growing up.’ Goldfields woodlands were devastated in the nineteenth century, and their regeneration has been a long and remarkable story. This exhibition celebrates that regeneration.

The exhibition will finish at the end of October.

Saturday 6th November 7pm

(bring the family – sausage sizzle onsite).

I am involved in a Regional Arts Victoria project as one of eleven artists in Regional Victoria. We are collaborating around the theme Illuminated by Fire. I have been working with the Maldon Group Fire Brigade to produce their photographs and stories and I will be revealing my largest works yet!

Please come to this unique event, and if you are a member of your local fire brigade please wear your ‘yellows’. It will be a spectacular showcase of trucks, CFA members, and photographs produced by the members and myself.
